Ladder safety

I finally get out to my backyard after a wet spring here in the midatlantic. I opened my portable Little Giant ladder (which I love and use extensively at work) for a quick look of the roof. But I noticed that all the labels on the ladder disapeared. It was an act of nature (bugs, spiders, rodents, squirrels, who knows!) for sure. Now I need to know if when extended, the articulation was going in or out. I search online on the manufacturers web site and found so much information about the ladder; instructions, videos, and features. Then I thought, the first rule for ladder safety is "read the manufacturers instructions". I was even able to use it the right way and to set it up to perform way better than before. I also learned that this ladders have a barcoding on the side that when used with a smart phone app, links you to instructions, videos and much more. Finally, the following link, https://www.osha.gov/Publications/portable_ladder_qc.html, will take you to a portable ladder safety publication from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) with great information on portable ladder safety.
